Tim Geller was raised in Arizona and Colorado, often spending summers on his grandparents’ farm in western Nebraska. In his adult life he has raised black angus cattle, sheep and chickens on a very modest scale, and has been an avid gardener. He has 25 years’ work experience in community economic development as executive director of the CDC of South Berkshire in rural western Massachusetts developing affordable housing and economic development in an economy where small-scale organic vegetable farming and ranching was an integral part of the regional economy. Now mostly retired, he has settled in Butte with family connections, and spends most of his time composing classical music and enjoying the outdoors and back county. For the last 24 years he has spent summers working for the Boston Symphony Orchestra as their Score Reader for live and recorded video production at their Tanglewood Music Festival in western Mass. Having devoted much of his life to building inclusive, sustainable community, he is committed to working for a Butte/Silver Bow County that is healthy, prosperous and inclusive with a patchwork of residential, business, art and urban farming; and that is a vibrant regional food hub for sustainable, regenerative farming and ranching throughout southwestern Montana.
