Introducing the Butte Community Farm

The Butte Community Farm is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to improve access to local food and expand community-wide knowledge about where our food comes from. Our goal is to launch a community farm in Butte, Montana.

Our mission:

Planting seeds to cultivate an abundant food future in Southwest Montana.

Our vision:

We envision a resilient future for southwest Montana where communities share knowledge, care for the land and have access to local food. We will realize this future through education, community collaboration, and growing the local food economy.

Our values:

Service: We value a service-minded approach to community-based work that focuses on the growth and well-being of others and the community over self.
Equity: Equity recognizes that people have different access to services and resources that affect outcomes over their lifespan. We always aim to provide services based on individuals’ needs to ensure the health and well-being of the whole community.
Collaboration: We value collaborative, collective work based on partnerships, initiatives and transformational relationships among entities that share common missions.
Sustainability: For us, sustainability is maintaining a commitment to  resourcefulness, the wisdom of diverse perspectives and ages, and being curious and flexible to ensure a healthy community, economy, and environment for future generations.
Resourcefulness: Resourcefulness recognizes our responsibility to develop and maintain organizational self-sufficiency that is buffered from economic flux.
